Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Event Time: 2024-12-21T06:04Z ( ACE: SWEPAM )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
Activity ID: 2024-12-21T06:04:00-HSS-001 (version 1)
Event End Time:
Peak Solar Wind Speed (km/s): 702.0
Date of first appearance of coronal hole in EUV at east limb: 2024-12-14
Note: Characterized by a steady increase in solar wind speed from approx. 475km/s to to a peak sustained speed of approx. 700km/s by 2024-12-22T12:54Z along with an increase in temperature from approx. 130kK to approx. 650kK. A gradual increase in density was observed preceding this signature, reaching a maximum of approx. 5p/cc before dropping below 1p/cc as the signature progressed. There was no shock or enhancement in B-field components seen corresponding with these fluctuations in speed, temperature or density. The likely associated coronal hole crossed central meridian late in the day on 2024-12-19 as seen in GOES SUVI 195 imagery, spanning longitudes E05 to W05 and latitudes S22 to N01.
